Mini carnations, spray roses and accent flowers |
I love flowers. Not because they smell great and look beautiful, but to me, flowers are what really makes a home, home. A house only looks lived in when there are fresh flowers present.
Living on a student budget, I am not able to purchase bouquets from florists on a daily basis. And there are no flower markets anywhere near Tallahassee (I envy you people of L.A.!), so I have to settle for flowers from the supermarket. They are not the freshest, nor are there a lot of variety, but with a student budget like mine, I can't complain. The problem with buying supermarket flowers is when you take it home, it looks blah in the vase.
When I first started buying flowers to decorate our apartment, the end product always fell flat. They looked messy, out of place and just plain boring. After some intense searches on Pinterest, I was able to gather a couple of key points:
|
Foliage needs to go in first, and placed in the back |
|
Then you add the larger flowers first, or whichever one with a larger bloom |
|
And then you add the smaller blooms. |
This bouquet cost me $12 at Publix. If I were to get it at the florist, it would've cost me over $25! I am very excited to pick up this hobby, and can't wait to try out more blooms and variations.
