Yesterday was our baby girl's 3rd birthday! She has grown up so much this past year. She's achieved so much:
- Saying the ABC's
- Counting
- Overcoming her fear of the playground ladder and bridge
- Potty training
- Putting her shoes on by herself
- Comprehending what people are saying to her
- Learning body parts and where they go (ears, eyes, nose, etc)
- Learning her colors
- and much more!
Although she is a late bloomer, I am so proud of all that Kaylie has accomplished so far. Getting through these obstacles, such as potty training, was not an easy feat for either of us. I remember when I tried forcing her to potty train when she turned two and a half- I didn't want her to be one of those kids who still had to wear diapers until they were 4-5. I would get so frustrated and yell at her for peeing in her diaper instead of using the small toilet. It was when I saw her hiding from me, crying and peeing in her pants, that I knew I was hurting rather than helping her. I then realized that when she was ready to potty train, she would let me know. And sure enough, within the next month, she was willing to try to potty train again. So the moral of the story is, kids know when they're ready to take the big steps in their lives. It has to happen naturally and organically, not forced. Remember this when ya'll have kids :)
